“Shoelaces”

“Shoelaces”

I bought new shoes.
I travelled a new city.
The shoelaces were wound
under graffiti streaked canals
And beat up bars
Over ribbon twist highways
And frenzy mad cars.

I did not realize how fast
I was running
Until I tripped and noticed
How tangled the laces were
Around over under a city
I guess you can say
I fell for.

And it’s a damn pain
unravelling those laces
While still trying
To love this city.
