“love”

my hands tremble
like seedlings breathing for
the first time
the sun bright on their tender greens
the air buoying them upright. ah life
smiles on us
in spite of storms
in spite of fires
in spite of the coldest, hardest winters
we live again

I love you

a quietness.

your voice had turned
warm, like a morning sun
and winter had relinquished
its last drop of ice

I love you, too

“boheme”

darling, I’m in wonder
my fingertips
washed in rouge wine
my glass
star-bathed in the watercolors of
a dozen stringed lights
dripping off the vines
of this old bar
my being
soaked in the music
of a familiar song I have fallen for

you
